The Perry Family

George Perry and Sons, Inc. a.k.a. Perry & Sons, is a family business that began in 1925 with Delphino Perry, an immigrant of the Azores Islands in Portugal. Delphino came to the United States when he was sixteen years old and began a small dairy farm and farmed too. He married ( ) and they had George Sr. who worked right alongside his father at an early age (an anecdotal tale would be good here). George Sr. married Violet in (19??) which fed the flame of expansion and innovation that Geo. Perry & Sons, Inc. would come to be known for with the addition of 4 children who would eventually all join the family farming business. In 1963, the family decided to sell the dairy and direct 100% of their efforts to farming.

In 1965, George Sr. continued his efforts to find ways to expand the family business. His success in selling his own watermelon and pumpkin crop inspired him begin buying and selling watermelons and pumpkins from other local growers to the increasing demand from his customers. George Sr. formed a partnership with his sons in 1965 and later incorporated in 1974. The Perry family not only increased production through expansion in farming

but also strengthened the business by becoming one of the largest shippers and handlers of watermelons and pumpkins throughout California. With the continued increase in demand, the Perry’s built relationships with growers and shippers from Mexico to Central California. This has enabled Perry’s to supply watermelons and squash 365 days a year to their customers.

The Perry family has grown over the years and now has the fifth generation working alongside the 2nd and 3rd generations. The Perry’s are eternally grateful to the Patriarchs that created this amazing foundation!

They contribute their success to a solid foundation built from their faith in God, the family unit, and to the community that surrounds them. Perry’s also value a very special group of people whom they consider extended family. Consisting of growers, shippers, buyers and employees. They contribute their success to both; God and these staunchly loyal supporters! It is with that faith they look forward to the future and say;
